First Flow
Oct 12th 08
Music is…IMHO, universal.
For some, it is just something going on in the background, a pleasant (or for some unpleasant) distraction. Ambient noise so you feel normal while chatting with someone new at a bar, club or social gathering. For others, it is a way of life that you can’t be without and each song you hear becomes added to the ever changing and moving “Soundtrack Of Your Life”.

Nostalgia-ficate yourself with Zo! and Tigallo
Oct 13th 08
Detroit-based musician Zo! and Phonte , using his moniker of Tigallo, have really done a remarkable job of taking some classics and putting a bit of a spin on them. Have they butchered them? Of course not!

Second Cypha
Oct 15th 08

So here we are in the second week of the blog and I have to say I’m happy with the response in some areas and not so much in others. It’s great that I have gotten the views I have so far but I thought that I would have had more. I guess time will tell.

Evolving Into A Legend
Oct 17th 08
So…I’m online and logged in right, working on a review for The Foreign Exchange’s new album ” Leave It All Behind” to post later once I get a copy of it and listen to it enough to form an opinion. Through the magic of tabbed browsing, I’m also checking a couple of my regular torrent sites to “get stuff” from and guess what I came across….go ahead and guess…I’ll wait…

What Exactly Is a Soundbomb?
Oct 17th 08

It’s a classic in my book hailing from the salad days of the on the scene, off the scene, on/off the scene again Rawkus Records, now labeling itself as Rawkus 50 and focusing more on the DigiRelease market more than actually putting the album in the stores since more and more people spend just as much time in front of their PC’s or Mac’s online shopping as they do actually getting up on a Saturday and spending a day at the Mall.

The Magic Numbah
Oct 25th 08
Ok people, here we are in week three.I have really been trying to create something good for folks that are either into music the way I am or are just casual listeners. Either way it is for you and I really enjoy putting it together. Question is, how much do you really think this is needed?

Fourth Flow
Nov 3rd 08
Week four, wow….didn’t know if I would still be doing this up til now. But glad I am. A little happier with the views this week though. Still not as many as I anticipated but we’ll work on it.

Very Choklate-y!!!
Nov 3rd 08
Chocolate. It’s hard to find anyone that doesn’t like it. Some people crave it, some don’t need it that often. It has been a part of society, be it modern or ancient, in some way shape or form for centuries. I have had a love affair with it for some years now, that is, until I found a cocoa of a different type. Enter Choklate Moore….

Fifth Element
Nov 3rd 08
What it is peeps?! Week five finds us with new reviews and new music to listen to along with another added page. This week I added a FoneFlowz page with a link to another Virtual Hard drive full of Ringtones I have made over past couple of years.

Oba-Mix Victory Download
Nov 5th 08
I’m too excited about the victory to even really get into a real post here. So….here’s what I’m gonna do for y’all.

6th Sense
Nov 7th 08
Whats up people?! I’ve got a lot to share with you and more posts to get ready, so lets get straight into this week’s new stuff here at The SoulReservoir (or TSR for short).I know when thangs ain’t right. I keep my 3rd eye open so I know there are some things I need to tweak. Hence the post title and pic above. Plus it’s one of my fav Common tracks of all time.

X-mas Does Come Early These Days
Nov 7th 08
Society and it’s consumerism are really funny to me, especially during the holidays. As I was driving home from work tonight, I noticed that there were ALREADY Christmas decorations adoring light poles. Once I arrived home and turned on the T.V. I was attacked by a Lay-A-Way commercial from K-Mart of all stores.

Why Santa Claus Ain’t Real To 9th Wonder
Nov 9th 08
Santa Claus Ain’t Real is a mix he put together for his students that showcases where the samples for a good bit of classics of the genre came from. 9th plays the original audio and then expertly fades or even scratches in the updated song. It is sheer enjoyment from beginning to end and is also one of the major reasons I began finding these songs myself and my muse for this blog.

An ODB For All Seasons
Nov 18th 08
Cee is one those guys that is well-versed in the subject as well as I, so we get into these discussions quite often. Eventually it segued into favorite Emcees that are not with us anymore. I was expounding about Big L, when he promptly dug in his CD case and popped in “Return to the 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version”. Yes the instantaneously vintage Ol’ Dirty debut. Not the world’s first taste of his brand of crazy.

7-11 Then You Pick Up The Cash Flow
Nov 19th 08
A month and two weeks into the blog. Changes have been made. More changes to come. In response to some emails and forum posts, I have restructured the blog to make it easier for you to read. It came to my attention that the content here is good but no one wants to click a tab or a link to read another post. Seems most blog readers want the posts on the front page to scroll through. So be it. It has been done.

Torn and Deflated?
Nov 22 08
I’m no stranger to an artist getting fed up with the norm in the Music Industry and feeling that they can use their prior success to shake up the game. I’m also not a stranger to allowing life experiences (i.e. mental anguish, emotional stress, spiritual orientation, political viewpoint, living conditions, relationships; romantic or otherwise etc.) influence the music you create. More often than not it makes for a better quality of song that the masses can relate to on more than one level.
